Pain doesn’t generally go away unless you do something about it. The following are great options for naturally relieving chronic pain. Continue reading to learn more:
Infrared Sauna
Lady Gaga swears by saunas for dealing with her chronic pain, and actually built one for herself at home.
Research suggests she’s onto something. For example, one study in the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine examined the use of saunas to help relieve pain and treat the symptoms of chronic tension-type headache, frequent headaches that occur more than 15 days per month. After eight weeks of sauna exposure, the 37 participants reported a significant improvement in headache intensity. The study was small, but the results suggest that regular sauna bathing is a simple way to reduce some types of chronic pain. Source: WomensHealthMag
Anti-Inflammatory Diet
Since pain is often caused or aggravated by inflammation, adopting an anti-inflammatory diet like the Pan Asian Modified Mediterranean (PAMM) diet should be a no-brainer. There are a lot of benefits to be gained with this, but chief among them is that the fewer foods you eat that stoke your body’s inflammatory response, the better off you’re likely to feel. Plus the high fiber content of PAMM helps your body offload toxins that can cause additional inflammation.
To eat the PAMM way, focus on high-vibrational foods like fresh organic fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, and low-glycemic carbs, along with healthy fats like olive oil and omega-3-rich fish. Remember, an anti-inflammatory diet is a long-term lifestyle approach, and pain relief will likely be gradual. But if you stick to it, you’ll eventually see benefits. Source: HeartMDInstitute
Exercise
Add pain relief to all the other things moving your body can do for you. Yoga may help relieve chronic back pain, according to research in the 2017 Cochrane Review, although the authors noted that other types of exercise might work just as well. In addition, a 12-week yoga program soothed back pain just as much as physical therapy in a recent Annals of Internal Medicine study.
Try it with caution, though: The Cochrane Review also mentioned that a small percentage of people report more pain after trying yoga. Tell your instructor that you’re new, ask for modifications if needed, and don’t push yourself too hard. Source: Health
