Want to turn your bathroom into a peaceful retreat? Check out these 3 easy ideas to turn your bathroom into a spa-like retreat and create a soothing sanctuary in your own home.
Stick with Neutral, Earthy Tones
Spas tend to use light colors for a calming effect, giving the space an organic feel. My Design Chic shows us that pale blue lends a soothing sense; head here for more pale blue inspiration. As shown in the second photo above, white is a great base color; then add accents of pale blue, beige and brown to keep the space from feeling too sterile. Install Dimming Lights
If you prefer a late night, romantic bath before bed, consider installing recessed ceiling lights or wall scones that come with dimmer controls. With the help of a dimmer, you can soften your lighting and get the spa-like feel when you need a soothing soak in the tub. Installing dimmer controls involves complex circuits or electrical wiring issues. As a result, I highly recommend leaving such work to a professional electrician. According to our database, the national average price to hire a local electrician is $293. Source: Improvenet
Cabinet Updates and Molding
To update the vanity, the cabinet base and doors are painted black. The cabinet door insets are cut out and replaced with Plexiglas and striped fabric. Inside the cabinets, black molding is attached to the front of the wire shelves to create the appearance of wooden shelves. Black molding that matches the cabinetry is hung around the mirror. The same molding is used to frame the wall divider, which makes a handy toiletry shelf. Source: HGTV
