Blair Mahaffy (verified owner) –
We finally got our steam shower installed this weekend; we had to get all our walls and plumbing and floor in first.
Here are some thoughts:
I like the aluminum, glass, and fiberglass construction. Very little plastics at all and it seems very solid and durable.
We found the back to side wall assembly difficult to align and get the screws in correctly but after some struggling we finally got it right and the rest of the stuff came together really nicely.
It is really unfortunate that it uses Philips screws instead of Robertson. The screws are small and require some force to seat and with a Philips the driver often cams out and can damage the screw. In a couple of spots where we were unable to drive the screw fully, we switched to a Robertson screw and got it right in.
The instructions could have been much clearer. More pictures and better English (clearly it is poorly translated) would have been helpful. One thing that threw us is that some of the assembly that the instruction told us to do was already done in factory. Took a bit of puzzling to be sure we understood what was going on. Many pictures were too small to see clearly.
In the lead up instructions, it says that some components require caulking and to read and follow the instructions carefully. The instructions made no mention of caulking the parts and when we turned on the water we had water coming out in numerous spots. Not a big deal as we were able to do the caulking afterwards without a problem. But would have been nice to know what was recommended.
One corner of the glass side piece was broken off but was covered by the top rail. So, again, not a problem, but kind of lucky too.
One of the most surprising thing was that almost all of the plumbing fittings on the back of the shower assembly were loose. We went over everything very carefully and snugged up all the fittings.
Finally, in this age of modern electronics, we really would have liked to have seen a Bluetooth option for the speaker rather than just FM radio.
That sounds like a lot of criticism but, as I said in the opening, the product is well built, sturdy, and looks great. We’re totally looking forward to enjoying it.
Finally, and most importantly, the help we’ve received from Aaron at Perfect Bath in getting our questions answered has been fantastic. He’s been articulate, clear, and prompt with his answers and has helped us feel confident about the installation.
